At our dental office, we provide options for patients who have had their sleep affected by grinding and snoring.
If you are grinding and clenching, then Dr. Flores may recommend Night guards. The reason is, grinding teeth causes damage and can contribute to teeth wearing down. Sometimes, it leads to fracturing and even loss of teeth and can require treatments like root canals and dentures. Teeth grinding and clenching can also result in symptoms like jaw pain, headaches, and hearing loss in severe cases.
Many people grind their teeth during their sleep and are not even aware of it, but notice the symptoms or are told by a loved one.
A night guard is a custom fitted piece that is tight and comfortable. It is made by taking an impression of the teeth and then molding the guard over the impression so that it fits snugly. When worn at night, it prevents the teeth from damage caused by grinding and clenching.
Snoring is another nighttime problem that can make it hard for you or a loved one to get a good night’s rest. Snoring occurs when the muscles in your mouth and throat relax and block some of the airway, resulting in vibrating throat tissues.
A snore guard is a device placed in the mouth while sleeping to help alleviate any issues. It fits comfortably over the top teeth and works by preventing the jaw and tongue from relaxing too much back into the throat. This keeps the airway open and can make a big difference when it comes to snoring. Snore guards are specially fitted for you at our office.
